A big warm thank you to everyone who was able to come to our first Bay Area Youth Worker MeetUp a few weeks ago. About 20 people came and enjoyed great conversation and refreshments. Thank you all for taking a timeout for some fun. We hope to do it again. Please let us know if you'd like your name added to the invite list.
As as follow-up to last month's post, "Will the Common Core Help Us Align?" we want to share some resources to help you assess college and career readiness. First is the Employability Skills Framework developed by the U.S. Department of Education. Two things are really useful about this site. One, the Employability Skills Framework they developed is cross-walked with 17 other career and college readiness frameworks as well as the Common Core Standards. Second, the list of various career and college readiness assessments is very useful.
The second interesting resource we found is the Intel Assessment Strategies resource page. They have developed a free online tool to develop your own checklists, rubrics, and open-text assessments from scratch based on 21st Century Skills. Practitioners can develop their own assessments to gauge prior knowledge, monitor progress, and demonstrate skills development.
Best,
